New Delhi, September 23 (Udaipur Kiran News): Microsoft is testing a new feature in Windows 11 that will allow users to set video wallpapers directly on the desktop. The option, spotted in the latest Insider builds, supports looping video files such as MP4 and MKV, removing the need for third-party applications.

This isn’t Microsoft’s first attempt at animated backgrounds. Back in 2007, Windows Vista introduced a feature called DreamScene, which allowed short videos to run as desktop wallpapers. However, the option was discontinued with Windows 7, and since then, third-party tools like Wallpaper Engine have become popular among users.
For younger Windows users, this update could be their first experience with built-in video wallpapers, while long-time users may see it as a return of a nostalgic feature. The testing phase is ongoing, and Microsoft is yet to announce when the feature will roll out to all Windows 11 users.
