Thane, April 6: Shiv Sena MP Jyoti Waghmare expressed her enthusiasm for the Women’s Reservation Bill in a recent interview with a news agency. She described it as a significant and encouraging step for all women in the country.
Waghmare extended her congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for this initiative. Through the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, they aim to provide proper representation and respect to women, who constitute half of the nation’s population. She warmly welcomed this move.
As she prepares to take her seat in the Rajya Sabha, Waghmare noted that Shiv Sena had only one seat available and no reservation in place. Despite this, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is sending a woman to the Rajya Sabha, honoring women’s contributions. She highlighted that Thane’s mayor is also a woman, emphasizing Shiv Sena’s commitment to women’s empowerment.
Waghmare praised Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for implementing numerous schemes for women, stating that no other chief minister has done as much. She welcomed the implementation of women’s reservation, asserting that it will benefit not only women but the entire nation. Citing Mahatma Phule, she remarked that while a man’s education benefits only him, a woman’s education uplifts her entire family. Thus, she believes that as women become more empowered, the nation will also grow stronger.
BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi also commended the central government’s initiative, expressing her joy as a female MP during her conversation with the news agency.
