Denzil Douglas, Foreign Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Welcomed in New Delhi for Diplomatic Engagements

New Delhi, April 6: Denzil Douglas, the Foreign Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, received a warm welcome in New Delhi. This visit is considered crucial for strengthening the historical ties between the two nations and for steering bilateral cooperation in new directions.

Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “We warmly welcome Denzil Douglas upon his arrival in New Delhi. This trip marks an important step towards enhancing the historical relations and expanding cooperation between our two countries. During this visit, the High Commission of St. Kitts and Nevis in India will also be inaugurated.”

Denzil Douglas is on an official visit to India from April 3 to April 8. On Monday, he will participate in an event in Delhi. He is scheduled to meet with India’s Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar at Hyderabad House on April 7 at 1 PM. Douglas will return on April 8.

A seasoned politician, Denzil Douglas has served St. Kitts and Nevis for several decades. He was the second Prime Minister of the Federation from 1995 to 2015. In 2022, he returned to government as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Industry, Commerce, Consumer Affairs, and Investment.

As Foreign Minister, he has participated in numerous international meetings and cooperation programs aimed at enhancing collaboration with various countries, including India.

Previously, Denzil Douglas visited India in August 2024, where he hosted discussions with Indian officials. They deliberated on several issues, including defense and security, health and pharmaceuticals, staff training, renewable energy, agriculture and food security, digital public infrastructure sharing, and development cooperation.
