New Delhi, 23 August (Kiran News): WhatsApp has rolled out a powerful new AI-based feature for its users. The feature adds an ‘Ask Meta AI’ option directly inside the message menu, making it easier for users to verify content and get additional details without leaving the chat. The update was first spotted by WABetaInfo on WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.25.23.24, with screenshots shared on X (formerly Twitter).

How the Feature Works

According to WABetaInfo, the feature is being released for select beta users. Once available, users will see the Ask Meta AI option in the message menu. By selecting it, the chosen message will open in a new chat window linked to Meta AI. This allows users to add context or specific questions before sending the message to the assistant, as the original content is not automatically included in the prompt.

This integration improves efficiency compared to the existing forwarding process, eliminating the need to scroll through the chat list and manually send content to Meta AI. Users can now instantly query the assistant from the same message options.

Helps Verify Forwarded Messages

One of the key benefits of this feature is that it helps users verify the authenticity of forwarded messages. If you receive a forwarded message and want to know more details about it, you can directly ask Meta AI. This is expected to be particularly useful in tackling fake news, misleading claims, and viral rumours that often spread rapidly on messaging platforms.

A Step Towards Combating Misinformation

WhatsApp’s integration of AI directly into the chat interface is seen as a significant step towards curbing misinformation. The message will also be highlighted in the assistant’s chat window, helping the user get relevant answers more effectively.

For now, the feature is available only for a limited number of beta users. WhatsApp plans to roll out its stable version for global users in the coming months.
