Port of Spain, August 3: In the ongoing second Test match of the series, Pakistan dismissed West Indies for 344 runs in their first innings on Monday. Key contributions came from Justin Greaves and captain Roston Chase, who both scored half-centuries. Sajid Khan was the standout bowler for Pakistan, claiming four wickets. The match is currently in its second day.
West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first at Queen’s Park Oval. Tagenarine Chanderpaul partnered with Brandon King to add 49 runs for the first wicket. Chanderpaul scored 15 runs with two boundaries before getting out, while King managed 46 runs, hitting nine fours.
The Caribbean team struggled early, losing four wickets for just 120 runs. Shai Hope then stabilized the innings, adding 53 runs with Justin Greaves for the fifth wicket off 93 balls, bringing the score to 173. Hope scored 29 runs, including four boundaries, before returning to the pavilion.
Captain Roston Chase joined Greaves, and together they built a solid partnership of 96 runs for the sixth wicket. Greaves scored 73 runs off 150 balls, featuring nine fours. Chase also made a significant contribution, scoring 70 runs off 126 balls, including 11 boundaries, and added 35 runs with Kemar Roach for the seventh wicket.
Sajid Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, taking four wickets for 85 runs. Mohammad Ali, Ubaid Shah, and Ali Usman each took two wickets. In the first match of the series held at Tarouba’s Brian Lara Stadium, West Indies had secured a 90-run victory over Pakistan. This second and final match of the series has become crucial, as the host team aims for a clean sweep with a 2-0 victory.
