New Delhi, August 5: In an exciting encounter of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, the West Delhi Lions defeated the South Delhi Superstars by five wickets. The Lions chased down a target of 161 runs with ease, finishing their innings in just 18.1 overs while losing only five wickets.
The West Delhi Lions did not have the best start. Ankit Kumar was dismissed for just 6 runs, and Jitesh Singh followed shortly after, scoring 8 runs before falling to Aman Bhatti. After losing two wickets for just 26 runs, the innings steadied thanks to a crucial partnership between Krish Yadav and Nitish Rana. The duo put together a vital 58-run partnership for the third wicket off 42 balls.
Krish faced 36 balls, scoring 41 runs with the help of three fours and one six. Nitish contributed 32 runs off 25 balls, hitting five fours and one six. Captain Ayush Doseja continued his impressive form, scoring 44 runs off just 27 balls, including seven fours and one six. Mayank Gussain played a quick innings, remaining unbeaten on 19 runs off 10 balls, steering his team to victory.
Earlier, the South Delhi Superstars struggled, getting bowled out for 160 runs. Their innings got off to a rocky start as Anmol Sharma was dismissed for just 13 runs. Pranav Pant managed 16 runs off 10 balls before being dismissed. Sanat Sangwan could not make a significant impact, scoring 26 runs off 15 balls. Captain Ayush Badoni scored 18 runs off 13 balls before falling to Manan. Karan Garg was out after scoring 21 runs, and Tejaswi Singh Dahiya managed only 2 runs.
Pranshu Vijayran was the top scorer for the Superstars with 26 runs. Ankit Dabbas added 9 runs before returning to the pavilion. In the final overs, Vishan Panchal scored 24 runs off 12 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes. For the West Delhi Lions, Mayank Gussain was the standout bowler, taking three wickets for just 13 runs in four overs. Shubham Dubey and Manan Bhardwaj each claimed two wickets.
