Kolkata, August 27: West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh expressed his condolences regarding the recent flood disaster in Nepal, describing it as a tragic natural calamity for which no one can be held accountable. He emphasized the need for caution, particularly for travelers heading to mountainous regions during the monsoon season.
Ghosh stated, “While natural events are beyond anyone’s control, we often see people traveling to the mountains without fully understanding the risks involved.” He warned travelers planning to visit the Mansarovar region and other hilly areas. “We have witnessed instances where helicopters were deployed for rescue operations, and some individuals went missing. Past incidents have resulted in significant loss of life and property. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid mountain travel in July and August.”
He further noted, “Given the unpredictable nature of such events, the government is making every effort to rescue those who venture into these areas, whether they are found alive or deceased.”
Ghosh highlighted India’s proactive stance in disaster response, stating, “India has always been among the first to offer assistance during global disasters. We send doctors, medicines, NDRF teams, and even search and rescue dogs to affected countries. Whether it’s an earthquake in Greece or a crisis in Pakistan, we have provided aid. We prioritize service above all.”
In response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah‘s statement that “India is not a shelter,” Ghosh supported the call for strict action against those causing law and order issues. He remarked, “Millions of foreigners have allegedly entered the country and are involved in criminal activities, posing a threat to national security. Certain political parties, including TMC, have reportedly sheltered them. Similarly, the SP government in Uttar Pradesh and the Kejriwal government in Delhi have been accused of providing refuge to such individuals. Therefore, border security is being reinforced to prevent illegal entry, and measures are being taken to identify and deport infiltrators.”
Ghosh also made sharp remarks regarding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comments on Manusmriti, stating, “Rahul Gandhi seems determined to end the Congress party. His repeated statements against Sanatan Dharma indicate that one cannot rule here by disrespecting Hinduism.”
