Waris Pathans Social Media Account Hacked, Threatened with Viral Private Photos

Mumbai, April 19: A serious cybercrime incident has emerged in Mumbai, targeting former AIMIM legislator and national spokesperson Waris Pathan. Reports indicate that unknown individuals have hacked his social media account.

The perpetrators have threatened to manipulate and leak private photos of Pathan and his family. In exchange, they have demanded a ransom of 500,000 rupees.

According to police, the threats began on April 16, starting with the hacking of Pathan’s social media account. The hackers then threatened to defame him by altering the private photos found on the account. They also made calls from three different international numbers, warning that if the money was not paid, the photos would be made public online.

Distressed by the continuous threats, Waris Pathan filed a complaint at the Worli police station in Mumbai. Based on his complaint, the police promptly registered a case and initiated an investigation. They have filed charges against the unknown assailants under sections 308(2), 308(3), and 351(4) of the Indian Penal Code.

Initial investigations suggest that these threatening calls may have originated from Cambodia. However, the police are thoroughly examining this angle to identify the actual culprits and the extent of their network.

Currently, police are working with cyber experts to analyze call details, IP addresses, and other digital evidence. They are also investigating whether an international gang is involved in this case.
