Police Shoot Suspect in Ghaziabad After Encounter Involving Child Assault

Ghaziabad, April 19: In a dramatic encounter in the Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad, police have apprehended a notorious criminal following a shootout. The suspect was injured after being shot in both legs and has been admitted to a local hospital. He has been identified as Alfazuddin, also known as Bhallu.

According to ACP Abhishek Srivastava, police noticed a suspicious individual near the Kanavani bridge during a late-night check. When officers signaled for him to stop, he fled and opened fire on the police team. In response, the police returned fire, injuring the suspect in both legs.

The ACP reported that during interrogation, the suspect revealed his name and admitted to residing in the slums of Ghaziabad. He confessed that he often ventured out at night to commit burglaries. On the night of his arrest, he was planning to target a home when he was caught by the police.

Further questioning revealed that two days earlier, Alfazuddin had entered a construction site in the Indirapuram area. He allegedly abducted a 7-year-old girl from a laborer’s home and assaulted her before releasing her. However, he stole a mobile phone that was charging and ₹11,000 in cash from the girl’s house.

The police had previously registered a case against an unidentified suspect in this matter and were actively searching for leads. Alfazuddin’s arrest has provided a breakthrough in the investigation, and he remains hospitalized under police custody.
