Hanoi, March 17: Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and China’s Foreign Minister, met with Le Hoai Trung, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Vietnam’s Foreign Minister.
Wang Yi stated that his visit to Vietnam shortly after the conclusion of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) reflects the high level of China-Vietnam relations.
Following the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam in January this year, CPC General Secretary and Chinese President Xi Jinping engaged in timely discussions with General Secretary To Lam. They agreed to hold the first ministerial meeting of the China-Vietnam “3+3” strategic dialogue mechanism on diplomacy, defense, and public security, as well as the 17th meeting of the bilateral cooperation operation committee.
According to the strategic consensus achieved by the top leaders of both parties, these two important mechanisms should be utilized to engage in in-depth discussions on development and security coordination, clarify key measures for following the socialist path, and send a positive signal of China-Vietnam solidarity, mutual trust, and joint progress to the international community.
Wang Yi further emphasized that both China and Vietnam are significant emerging economies. The development and rejuvenation of these two countries represent a direction for human progress and will provide valuable lessons and new pathways for developing nations.
China is prepared to maintain close high-level exchanges with Vietnam, deepen practical cooperation, promote people-to-people exchanges, strengthen multilateral cooperation, appropriately manage maritime issues, and support each other in hosting APEC to advance the construction of the Asia-Pacific community over the next two years.
