Wang Yi and Iranian Foreign Minister Discuss Regional Developments in Phone Call

Beijing, March 25: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday. Araghchi briefed him on the latest developments in the regional situation and expressed gratitude for China’s emergency humanitarian assistance.

The Iranian Foreign Minister stated that the Iranian people are more united than ever in facing foreign aggression and defending their national sovereignty and independence. Iran seeks not just a temporary ceasefire but a complete cessation of hostilities.

He emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is open to all, allowing ships to pass safely, but warring nations are not included in this assurance. He expressed hope that all parties would take steps to de-escalate the situation rather than exacerbate the conflict, and he anticipates that China will play an active role in establishing peace.

On the other hand, Wang Yi reiterated China’s principled stance that all issues should be resolved through dialogue and negotiation rather than military force. He stated that dialogue is always preferable to conflict, aligning with Iran’s national interests and the aspirations of the international community.

The Chinese Foreign Minister called on all parties to seize every opportunity for peace and to initiate peace talks promptly. He affirmed that China would maintain a neutral stance, oppose violations of sovereignty, and actively contribute to regional peace and stability.
