New Delhi, November 29: The Central Government has appointed Vivek Chaturvedi, a 1990 batch IRS (C&IT) officer, as the new Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) made this decision through an official order issued today.
According to the issued order, Vivek Chaturvedi, who is currently serving as a CBIC member, will now take charge of the board’s highest position as Chairman. This appointment is being seen as a significant change in the fields of revenue administration, customs management, and indirect tax administration.
The order was issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. The order bears the signature of Deputy Secretary Subir Kumar.
Copies of the issued letter have been sent to key government offices, including the Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Secretariat, and Guard File.
