Chandigarh, June 28: Vikram Singh Majithia, a leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal, has launched a strong attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab. In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, he stated, “The Punjab government has gone back on all its promises. Farmers are not receiving electricity for farming. Currently, farmers are forced to burn expensive diesel in generators to save their crops.”
Majithia further emphasized, “During such times, farmers have to leave their fields to protest against the government. The government should stop its advertising gimmicks, focus on the farmers of Punjab, and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply for agriculture.”
In another post, he noted that the Punjab government is exacerbating the difficulties faced by the already struggling farming community. Farmers are not receiving urea fertilizer, and due to prolonged power cuts, their paddy crops are drying up. Farmers are being compelled to protest. In the Moga assembly constituency, farmers demonstrated against the government at the Kathunangal toll plaza. These conditions are not limited to the Moga assembly area but are prevalent throughout Punjab.
In another post, Majithia remarked, “Kejriwal’s service continues while Punjab remains in darkness! Farmers of paddy in Moga and across Punjab are troubled by hours of power cuts. Motors are non-functional, generators are running, and ordinary Punjabis are facing hardships. He further noted that ‘Guru Drohi’ Bhagwant Mann once claimed that paddy transplantation could be done even with motors off. Today, farmers have no option as there is no electricity.”
He highlighted that as the demand for electricity rises, so do the power cuts. The government seems indifferent to the needs of farmers, paddy crops, or the common people of Punjab. Instead, it is busy providing VIP services to Arvind Kejriwal while farmers are left waiting for electricity in their fields.
