Chennai, July 31 : Popular South Indian actor Vijay Sethupathi has broken his silence over the recent sexual harassment allegations made against him on social media. A woman had recently accused him of serious misconduct, sparking widespread debate in the film industry and among fans. Responding for the first time, the actor dismissed the allegations and said such claims do not affect him as he firmly believes in his truth.
“I Know Who I Am,” Says Sethupathi
In an interview, Vijay Sethupathi categorically denied the accusations. He stated that his team has taken the matter seriously and filed a complaint with the cybercrime cell. “For those who truly know me, these allegations are completely baseless. I know who I am and what my truth is. Such vulgar claims don’t shake me, although they have hurt my family and close friends. I’ve told them not to worry—everything will be fine,” he said.
“She Just Wants Attention”
The actor further added, “This woman simply wants attention. If she wants a few moments of fame, let her have it. We have officially filed a cyber complaint. I’ve been facing such rumours and gossip for the past seven years. They haven’t affected me then, they won’t affect me now, and never will.”
The allegations were made by a woman named Ramya Mohan on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). In her now-deleted post, she accused Sethupathi of exploiting a young girl and hiding behind a so-called “saintly image” in the film industry. She also claimed the actor allegedly offered ₹2 lakh for a ‘caravan favour’ and ₹50,000 for a ‘drive’. The post further alleged that issues like drugs and exploitation are rampant in the industry. However, the post had already gone viral before it was deleted.
