Rajesh Ram Addresses Cross-Voting Controversy Amid NDAs Clean Sweep in Bihar

Patna, March 17: The NDA achieved a significant victory by sweeping all five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar. The Mahagathbandhan, which claimed it would secure one seat, faced disappointment as it lost even that. Following this defeat, Congress legislators have directed their frustration towards state president Rajesh Ram. In response to the allegations against him regarding the party’s Rajya Sabha candidates, Rajesh Ram asserted, “I want to make it clear that I am the most loyal member of the party. Positions come and go, but reputation is hard to earn.”

In a conversation in Patna, Rajesh Ram stated, “To those who have accused me, I can only say that I have been in constant contact with those legislators. I called them multiple times and even visited their homes to request their support, but no one was available. Despite my persistent calls, they did not answer. I sent messages emphasizing the importance of the party’s reputation, urging them to discuss this matter, but they ignored my calls and have now leveled these accusations.”

“We are loyal soldiers of the Congress party, active on the ground, and currently hold significant positions. While in this role, I cannot betray the party. Initially, Ashok Chaudhary attempted to lure us with offers of MLC and ministerial positions, even offering flats. We rejected those temptations and distanced ourselves. Now, I feel targeted by the BJP,” he added.

Rajesh Ram emphasized, “Voting is your right. The party has instructed us to support the candidates of the India alliance and advocate for them. As voters, your role is crucial in enhancing the party’s reputation. You make your own decisions, yet you blame us. I have been calling since the night of the 14th; if there was an issue, you could have informed me. Why did you not answer the phone?”

He continued, “Decisions are made between our central leadership and the RJD. We are followers, and it is our responsibility to accept and implement those decisions. It is unfortunate that three of our legislators did not attend, leading to this setback. No one can shy away from this responsibility.”

Rajesh Ram also mentioned that the party would take action against the legislators involved, stating, “There is no doubt about that. It is essential to consider what those who have remained loyal feel in their hearts. It is disheartening to see someone blame another to cover their mistakes. We will discuss this matter with our central leadership and present all facts for further action.”
