Vice President Celebrates Vision of Developed Bengal During Visit to Teesta River

Gangtok, May 17: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan took a moment to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Teesta River while traveling from Gangtok to Bagdogra Airport. He expressed confidence in the West Bengal government’s vision of a ‘Developed Bengal.’

A post from the Vice President’s office on the social media platform X highlighted his brief stop at Mongpong, where he admired the stunning views of the Teesta River and the picturesque landscape of West Bengal.

Radhakrishnan emphasized that the state government would strengthen tourism infrastructure and work towards realizing the ‘Developed Bengal’ vision.

He was in Gangtok to participate in the celebrations for Sikkim’s Statehood Day. During the event, he conveyed his best wishes to the people, noting that the journey of the Himalayan state over the past 50 years has been remarkable. As a student, he closely followed the events surrounding Sikkim’s merger with India and expressed joy at attending the 51st Statehood Day celebrations.

He remarked that Sikkim exemplifies harmony between nature, culture, and governance. The 51st anniversary of statehood marks the beginning of a new phase of development, transformation, and inclusive progress.

Radhakrishnan also referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Sikkim, where over ₹4,000 crore in development projects were launched and dedicated to the public. He mentioned the Prime Minister’s ‘Act East, Act Fast’ approach and described Sikkim as an integral part of the Northeast’s ‘Ashtalakshmi.’
