Caracas, July 2: Citizens in Venezuela are openly praising India’s health services and medical teams following a recent earthquake. The care provided at the army field hospital has been described as exceptional. Images and video clips showcasing the dedication of healthcare workers and doctors serving the victims are circulating on social media platforms.
Ranveer Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, shared glimpses of these health warriors dedicated to public welfare on X. In one video clip, a woman who brought her injured relative said, “We came here from La Guaira. As soon as we arrived, we received immediate assistance. She was injured in the earthquake in Venezuela. After examination, it was confirmed that she has a double fibula fracture. We have been told that she will undergo surgery here. The arrangements are excellent, and the health services are outstanding.”
Numerous images depict healthcare workers providing care to the injured. The Ministry of External Affairs described this effort as “Healing Life, Serving Humanity.”
On June 24, two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela, causing significant devastation. By Wednesday, local media reported that the Venezuelan health department confirmed 2,295 fatalities due to this natural disaster. In response, India launched “Operation Amistad” to assist with relief and rescue efforts.
Relief materials sent from India arrived in Venezuela on Sunday, as confirmed by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. He stated that India’s field hospital unit, relief supplies, medicines, and medical equipment would strengthen ongoing relief operations.
On social media platform X, he wrote, “India’s aid has reached Venezuela. We are confident that the field hospital unit, relief supplies, medicines, and medical equipment will further bolster the ongoing relief efforts post-earthquake.”
The Indian Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire also provided updates on X, stating that two C-17 aircraft from the Indian Air Force reached Venezuela via Abidjan. These aircraft carried relief supplies, an Indian Army field hospital team, and two “Bhishma Cubes.”
The embassy reported that the team consists of 41 members, including nine doctors. They are fully prepared to provide emergency treatment, care for severe injuries, life-saving surgeries, and other essential health services.
