Mumbai, July 28: AIMIM MLA Mufti Mohammad Ismail has welcomed the temporary halt on the proposed bulldozer action against Jawhar University. He expressed his views regarding this development, the alliance proposal made by Asaduddin Owaisi to Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, a proposed bill concerning the disrespect of “Vande Mataram,” and the cases filed against students participating in protests by the Cockroach Public Party.
Mufti Ismail described the temporary halt on the bulldozer action against Jawhar University as a relief for the entire nation. He noted that the issue surrounding the university has been a matter of concern across the country for a long time. When the university was established years ago, the current regulations and map approval system related to the Rampur Development Authority did not exist in its current form. Based on this, the district administration had ordered the demolition of 38 out of 40 buildings of the university, creating unrest among the education sector and the general public.
He emphasized that if the authorities have imposed a halt on the action, it is good news for everyone interested in the field of education. There should be no atmosphere of religious discrimination or hatred in education, and educational institutions should be kept away from such controversies.
Regarding the alliance proposal made by AIMIM chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi to Akhilesh Yadav for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Mufti Ismail mentioned that Owaisi has previously initiated discussions to form alliances with opposition parties in various states. During the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Owaisi also sought alliances with other political parties, but his proposals were not accepted at that time. To counter the frequent allegations against AIMIM, Owaisi has opted for a practical approach in politics. He expressed hope that Akhilesh Yadav would consider this proposal positively to prevent the fragmentation of opposition votes.
When asked about the proposed bill concerning the disrespect of “Vande Mataram,” Mufti Ismail stated that when this bill is presented in the assembly, people from various religions and communities will express their views within the framework of the Constitution. A detailed response on this matter will be provided once the bill is presented.
Responding to the cases filed against students involved in the CJP protests and the Supreme Court‘s order to withdraw cases against protesters under the age of 18 with no criminal records, he remarked that this movement was initiated concerning the NEET exam paper leak and other paper leak incidents in different states. He insisted that actions should align with the agreement reached between the government and the representatives of the protesters during the movement. Adding new conditions later is not appropriate. If different bases for conditions are being introduced after a prior agreement, it cannot be considered a correct approach.
