Udaipur, September 21 (Daily Kiran News): The second Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon, organised with the support of Hindustan Zinc Limited, achieved unprecedented success on Sunday, placing Udaipur firmly on the global running map. The marathon, held under the #RunForZeroHunger initiative, drew 7,000 runners from 27 states and abroad, making it a true celebration of fitness and social purpose.

A Celebration of Fitness and Inclusion
Certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), the event offered three race categories—21 km, 10 km, and 5 km—welcoming participants of all ages and abilities. Senior citizens, children, differently abled athletes, women’s fitness groups, and professionals from companies like Secure Meters, Arcgate, and BCI all joined in, showcasing diversity and inclusivity.
Runners traversed scenic routes around Fateh Sagar Lake, the Aravalli hills, Maharana Pratap Memorial, and Neemach Mata Temple, with Udaipur residents lining the streets to cheer them on. Each finisher received a medal crafted from zinc, symbolising strength and achievement.

The marathon was flagged off by local MPs, MLAs, district officials, and Hindustan Zinc leadership, including CEO Arun Misra, who himself completed the 21 km run. Speaking afterwards, Misra said: “The Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon has put Udaipur on the global running map. From a local initiative, it has become an international celebration of health and community.”
Social Impact: Run for Zero Hunger
Through the Anil Agarwal Foundation’s Nandghar program, the marathon also contributed to providing nutrition packs to thousands of children, strengthening the fight against malnutrition.
