Varanasi, 27 August (Kiran News). The Vande Bharat Express train between Varanasi and Meerut was officially inaugurated from Varanasi Cantt (Junction) railway station on Wednesday. The train was flagged off jointly by Uttar Pradesh’s Ayush Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dr. Dayashankar Mishra ‘Dayalu’, Mayor Ashok Tiwari, MLC Hansraj Vishwakarma, and Dharmendra Rai. The entire station echoed with resounding chants of “Har-Har Mahadev” during the ceremony.

The train departed from Meerut at 6:35 am for Varanasi, and from Varanasi, train number 22489 left for Meerut at 9:10 am. On the first day, 58 percent of seats in the chair car and 45 percent in the executive class were occupied by passengers traveling from Varanasi to Meerut City and other stations. According to railway officials, the Varanasi–Meerut City Vande Bharat previously ran up to Lucknow Junction. With its extension, the train now starts from Varanasi from Wednesday onwards. The Vande Bharat will cover a distance of 782.22 kilometers in approximately 11 hours and 50 minutes.
Train number 22490 Meerut City–Varanasi Vande Bharat Express will depart from Meerut City at 6:35 am, reach Moradabad at 8:35 am, Bareilly at 10:04 am, Lucknow Junction at 1:45 pm, Ayodhya at 3:53 pm, and finally arrive at Varanasi Junction by 6:25 pm. On the return journey, train number 22489 Varanasi–Meerut City Vande Bharat Express will leave Varanasi at 9:10 am, reach Ayodhya at 11:40 am, Lucknow at 1:40 pm, have a brief halt at Bareilly at 5:13 pm, leave Moradabad at 6:50 pm, and reach Meerut City by 9:05 pm.
The inauguration was attended by ADRM Brijesh Kumar Yadav, station director Arpit Gupta, and other officials.
