Ongoing Evacuations in Qatar Amid US-Iran Tensions

Doha, March 14: Amid the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior has issued important updates. In a post on the social media platform X, the ministry clarified that previously announced temporary precautionary evacuation measures apply only to residents in specified areas who received information through the national warning system. Safe alternative accommodations have been provided for affected individuals, while some have chosen to relocate to safer locations voluntarily until the security threat subsides.

The ministry also stated that individuals falling under the evacuation measures can contact 40442999 for assistance or inquiries. It urged everyone to seek information from official sources and to follow the directives issued by competent authorities.

On February 28, following a joint attack by the US and Israel on Iran, Iran retaliated by launching missiles at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which serves as the largest US military base in the Middle East. Qatar’s air defense intercepted most of the missiles fired by Iran; however, 16 individuals were injured due to shrapnel.

In response to the attacks, Qatar condemned them as “unjust,” a “violation of sovereignty,” and a “dangerous escalation.”

As tensions continue in West Asia, the Indian government is working to ensure the safe return of its citizens. On March 12, approximately 700 Indian nationals returned from Qatar. Additionally, Indian airlines have resumed flights to Riyadh. According to an advisory from the Indian Embassy in Qatar, around 700 Indian citizens departed on two Qatar Airways flights—one to Delhi and another to Mumbai, while some travelers headed to other destinations. In the coming days, Qatar Airways is expected to operate one or two flights daily to India.
