Uttarakhand Cabinet Meeting in Haridwar Aims to Connect Governance with the Public

Haridwar, October 12 (Daily Kiran) : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced a new initiative to hold cabinet meetings outside the capital, Dehradun, in a bid to bring governance closer to the public. This was revealed during a cabinet meeting held in Haridwar on October 12, 2026.

In a post on social media platform X, Dhami highlighted the significance of convening in Haridwar, a city known for its cultural, religious, and economic importance. He stated that the purpose of holding meetings in various districts is to better understand local conditions, public expectations, and regional needs, thereby aligning development priorities with the community’s interests.

The Haridwar meeting is seen as a pivotal step in the state’s development journey, where several public-interest decisions were discussed.

Following the cabinet meeting, Dhami expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for his guidance and support in the state’s development efforts. Speaking to reporters, he reflected on the numerous initiatives implemented under Modi’s leadership. “As I considered which schemes to share with you, a multitude came to mind. I began to list them, but realized that the list would never end. Instead, I will directly inform you about the significant work that the Prime Minister has done and his frequent visits to this area,” he said.

Earlier, Dhami met with Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, where he announced a major initiative. He discussed the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, emphasizing the need for improved connectivity in various regions. Dhami noted that they had previously submitted proposals for road approvals, highlighting the necessity of linking several habitations.

Chouhan assured him that the final approval process for approximately 315 roads would be completed by next week. These roads are set to connect 610 habitations, improving access to areas currently lacking connectivity. The project includes 32 major bridges and is expected to cost over ₹2,700 crores. Given Uttarakhand’s challenging geographical conditions, the final approval process is ongoing. Dhami expressed heartfelt thanks to Minister Chouhan on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand for his support.
