Congress Faces Criticism Over Election Commission Allegations in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, October 12 (Daily Kiran) : Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishwas Sarang accused the Congress party of spreading chaos and confusion in the country during a recent address. He raised a critical question: if the Election Commission of India (ECI) was not functioning properly, how did opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra manage to get elected to the Lok Sabha?

Sarang’s remarks came amid a protest march by the Congress-led INDIA bloc, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Review (SIR) controversy. Opposition leaders have alleged discrepancies in the voter list revision process and expressed concerns regarding the electoral rolls. In response, the BJP defended the process and accused Congress of politicizing the issue.

In a conversation with reporters, Sarang targeted Rahul Gandhi, claiming he repeatedly attempts to sow discord and unrest in the nation. “Creating chaos has become a habit for Rahul Gandhi. If there were flaws in the election commission, how did Rahul and Priyanka reach the Lok Sabha? How did your governments form in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala? It’s Rahul Gandhi’s habit to spread confusion and he is continuously trying to engage in divisive politics,” Sarang stated.

Leaders of the INDIA bloc also sought an appointment with Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud. However, their request was denied, with the Chief Justice advising them to file a petition through the appropriate legal channels.

In response, Rahul Gandhi announced that opposition leaders would march to the Supreme Court later in the day to initiate legal proceedings. He urged citizens to join their campaign in support of the Constitution and democracy.

Following this, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and other leaders boarded a bus from the Constitution Club of India towards the Supreme Court.

Congress MP Manish Tewari told reporters, “We want to submit a memorandum to the Supreme Court. Therefore, the entire opposition is collectively heading towards Barakhamba Road. We will see what happens next.”

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi alleged that the BJP is panicking over the prospect of losing power. “The BJP is scared. They know they won’t hold onto power for much longer,” he remarked.
