Lucknow, May 8: The Uttar Pradesh government has accelerated preparations for the 2027 census, emphasizing transparency, technology-based data collection, and public participation, according to an official press release issued on Friday.
As part of this initiative, Minister of Backward Classes Welfare and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Narendra Kashyap, completed his self-enumeration at his official residence on Friday.
This event follows the formal launch of the first phase of the 2027 census by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath just a day earlier.
Under the self-enumeration initiative, citizens will be able to submit their personal and family details online through the census portal, allowing residents to participate directly in this nationwide exercise.
The Uttar Pradesh government has actively urged the public to engage in the process and assist in its successful implementation.
Officials stated that this new digital mechanism aims to expedite data collection, ensure accuracy, and minimize errors.
The state government has also assured citizens that all standards related to data security and privacy will be strictly adhered to during the self-enumeration phase.
According to officials, the self-enumeration process will last for 15 days, after which formal house listing activities will commence on May 22.
To ensure maximum participation, the state government plans to conduct extensive awareness campaigns at the state, district, and village levels.
Instructions have also been issued to establish help desks and assistance centers to support citizens during this process.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Narendra Kashyap directed officials and staff to ensure effective implementation of the program as per Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directives.
He also encouraged greater public participation in the campaign.
Kashyap stated that the 2027 census self-enumeration process will provide a new direction and that the data collected will play a crucial role in planning and implementing development-oriented welfare schemes in the state.
