Mumbai, June 26: The film ‘The India Story: Slow Poison,’ which addresses social issues, is capturing public attention with its newly released teaser. The teaser reveals the profound impact of pesticides and toxins found in everyday food on people’s lives.
The teaser opens with a large protest where farmers and citizens express their anger against lawyer Archana, played by Kajal Aggarwal. The crowd demands her arrest and angrily defaces her posters.
Following this, a courtroom scene unfolds. Here, the character Yogesh Pandey, portrayed by Shreyas Talpade, presents his petition. Yogesh claims that his seven-year-old daughter’s death was due to cancer, which he labels as murder. Medical reports indicate that her death resulted from contamination in food items, specifically mentioning toxic substances found in everyday items like fruits, vegetables, milk, and yogurt, which are gradually causing severe health issues.
Lawyer Archana advocates for this case, presenting her arguments in a strong and logical manner. She states, “Fruits and vegetables are purchased through farmers. The companies producing the pesticides and the government that permits these companies are also guilty.”
The teaser also portrays the personal struggles of Yogesh Pandey as he navigates hospitals for his sick daughter, standing in long lines and desperately seeking help. When his daughter dies, his pain deepens. He then approaches the police station for justice, only to find his complaints dismissed, highlighting the systemic issues and the helplessness of an ordinary person.
A powerful dialogue resonates in the teaser, where Shreyas Talpade remarks, “The storm of poison unleashed in the name of the Green Revolution shows no signs of stopping.”
Towards the end of the teaser, a shocking scene unfolds where a woman slaps Kajal Aggarwal amidst the protests.
‘The India Story: Slow Poison’ focuses on the serious issues of pesticide farming and food contamination. The film aims to illustrate how modern agriculture and chemical substances are gradually affecting human health, with the most significant impact likely to be felt by future generations.
Produced and written by Sagar B. Shinde under the banners of G Studios and MIG Production and Studios, the film is set to release in theaters worldwide on July 24 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil languages.
