US Open 2026: Prize Money Sees Significant Increase for Players

New Delhi, August 21: The demand for increased prize money by players in Grand Slam tournaments has been a long-standing issue. In 2026, the US Open will fulfill this demand as it announces a substantial rise in prize money for participants.

The prize money for the US Open has been increased by 20%. The total payout for players has now reached $108 million. This announcement was made by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) ahead of the tournament.

USTA CEO Craig Tiley stated that this move is essential for the advancement of the sport. He emphasized that it represents a significant first step in investing in athletes over the years, making the US Open the best economic opportunity for players and a valuable platform for tennis enthusiasts, partners, and fans alike.

The singles champion will receive approximately ₹52.65 crores. The runner-up in the singles final will earn around ₹26.80 crores ($2.8 million). Players reaching the quarter-finals will take home about ₹7.46 crores ($780,000), while those making it to the semi-finals will earn approximately ₹13.88 crores ($1.45 million).

In doubles matches, winning male, female, and mixed teams will share around ₹9.57 crores, while the runners-up will receive about $500,000. Additionally, wheelchair singles champions will be awarded approximately ₹99 lakhs ($104,000). Even players eliminated in the first round will still earn around ₹1.34 crores ($140,000).

The US Open promises to be thrilling. Former champion Carlos Alcaraz, who has been away from professional tennis for the past four months, will aim to defend his title. Alcaraz has not played a match since April due to a wrist injury sustained during the Barcelona Open, which also caused him to miss the French Open, Wimbledon, and several other tournaments.

The US Open 2026 will commence on August 23 and conclude with the men’s final on September 13.
