Manchester, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Manchester United’s head coach, Michael Carrick, has urged his players to move past their narrow defeat in the Manchester derby. He emphasized the importance of concentrating on their upcoming Carabao Cup match against Brighton & Hove Albion, scheduled for Wednesday at Old Trafford.
The team is determined to return to winning ways after a rocky start to the Premier League season, having earned only four points from their first four matches. United managed a convincing 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town but faced setbacks against Hull City, drawing with Everton, and losing 0-1 to Manchester City in the derby.
Carrick acknowledged the disappointment of the loss to City but stressed the need to quickly regain momentum, as United aims to progress in a tournament they last won in 2023. In the Manchester United Review, he stated, “Sunday’s derby was disappointing for many reasons, but now we must move forward swiftly and get back on the path to victory.”
With a series of matches leading up to the next international break, Carrick also highlighted the competition for places within the squad. He remarked, “We have a lot of talent in our team, and everyone is pushing to play as we face consecutive matches before the break.”
