Washington, August 1 (H.S.) – The United States and its NATO allies have issued a joint statement levelling serious allegations against Iran for increasing threats in Europe and North America. They have explicitly warned Iran to immediately halt its intelligence operations targeting dissidents, journalists, Jewish citizens, and former or current officials.
In the statement released on Thursday, the allies said, “We stand united against the Iranian intelligence agencies’ attempts to commit killings, abductions, and harassment in Europe and North America. These acts are a direct violation of our sovereignty.”
The statement also noted that Iranian intelligence agencies are now working with international criminal networks to target journalists, Jewish citizens, and dissenters—actions described as “completely unacceptable.”
The allies warned, “Any such attack will be seen as a violation of our sovereignty, and we will work together to thwart these conspiracies.”
Countries That Signed the Statement
The joint statement was signed by the United States and 13 NATO member countries—Albania, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and the US. Austria, which is not a NATO member but hosts the headquarters of the UN’s nuclear agency IAEA, also signed the statement.
Cases Involving the UK and Germany
British intelligence agencies have repeatedly issued warnings about Iran-sponsored plots. Currently, three alleged Iranian spies are facing charges in the UK for planning to spy on and attack journalists.
The UK Parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee recently stated, “Iran has become a broad, persistent, and unpredictable threat.”
Earlier this month, German prosecutors reported the arrest of a man in Denmark who is suspected of gathering information on Jewish locations and individuals in Berlin.
