Lucknow, March 21: Amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rita Bahuguna Joshi, has described the situation as tragic from both humanitarian and economic perspectives. She emphasized the urgent need for restoring peace.
In an interview with a news agency, Bahuguna expressed her concern, stating that both the Indian government and its citizens are worried about the current state of affairs. She pointed out that countries in Central Asia and the Middle East play a crucial role in supplying oil and CNG gas to India, indicating that the ongoing unrest could significantly impact both the global and Indian economies. She clarified that India has always favored diplomacy over war and seeks a resolution through dialogue in the present circumstances.
Bahuguna further noted that Prime Minister Modi is actively engaging with leaders from various nations to expedite a resolution to this crisis. She expressed hope for a positive outcome in the near future; otherwise, the repercussions could severely affect the global economy. Regarding the upcoming elections in five states, she mentioned that all political parties are preparing vigorously, with the BJP also contesting strongly. Specifically referencing Assam, she stated that the BJP has formed the government there for two consecutive terms and is in a robust position for a third.
