Punjab Minister Arrested Following Serious Allegations: Arvind Kejriwal Responds

New Delhi, March 23: In a significant development, police have arrested former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar in connection with the death of Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, the district manager of the Punjab Warehousing Corporation (PWC). This action was taken under the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, following the incident that has raised serious concerns.

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party and former Chief Minister of Delhi, reacted to the arrest on social media platform X. He stated, “Recently, a minister from the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab faced serious allegations. Our government acted promptly and without bias, not only removing the minister from his position but also ensuring his arrest.”

Kejriwal further contrasted this situation with a recent incident in Haryana, where an Additional Director General of Police committed suicide amid serious allegations. He noted, “In that case, the entire party and government rallied to support the accused. This highlights the difference between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP. When it comes to justice, the Aam Aadmi Party does not hesitate to take action against its own ministers, while the BJP sacrifices justice to protect its members.”

Gagandeep Singh Randhawa tragically took his own life on March 21, prompting widespread attention to the case. Allegations of harassment and mental pressure against former minister Laljit Bhullar surfaced following Randhawa’s death. The situation escalated when a video recorded by Randhawa before his suicide emerged, in which he reportedly named Bhullar as a source of his distress.

Following this, Randhawa’s family lodged a complaint with the police, accusing Bhullar of harassment, threats, and mental pressure. Based on the family’s complaint and the evidence from the video, the police initiated an investigation, which ultimately led to the former minister’s arrest.
