Iran Denies Trumps Claims of Dialogue, Accuses US of Backtracking

New Delhi, March 23: Iran has labeled recent statements by US President Donald Trump as false, asserting that no dialogue has taken place between the two nations. The Iranian military headquarters clarified that their stance on the Strait of Hormuz remains unchanged.

In a post on the social media platform X, the Iranian military stated, “There has been no conversation between Iran and America. Trump’s claims of dialogue are untrue. The US’s retreat following threats to attack Iran’s energy infrastructure is an attempt to avoid danger. Iran’s position on the Strait of Hormuz has not altered.”

The Iranian military headquarters further noted, “Trump has retreated from his 48-hour ultimatum due to fears of Iran’s retaliation.”

It was previously made clear by Iranian officials that any US attack on Iran’s power plants would result in targeting Israel’s electricity, energy, and ICT infrastructure. Power plants in Middle Eastern countries hosting US military bases would be considered valid targets. Additionally, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until Iran’s damaged plants are rebuilt.

Earlier, President Trump stated on Monday that the US had engaged in positive and productive discussions with Iran. He claimed that serious talks were ongoing to completely resolve the tension between the two countries in the Middle East. Trump announced that the US would refrain from attacking Iran’s energy facilities for the next five days.

On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said, “We have had extremely positive and productive discussions with Iran over the past two days, aimed at finding a complete resolution to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. This round of discussions will continue throughout the week. Given the positive attitude of the in-depth and extensive discussions between the two nations, I have instructed the US Department of Defense to postpone any military attacks on Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure for the next five days.”

Trump’s earlier post on Sunday had caused a stir, where he issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Iran, stating that if the Strait of Hormuz was not opened, major Iranian power plants would be targeted. In response, Iran claimed it would not abandon any plant operating with US assistance.
