Shamli, December 9: In a police encounter in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh, notorious dacoit Samyadeen alias Saama, who had a reward of ₹50,000 on his head, was killed. Originally from Kandhla town, Samyadeen had been hiding in Tumkur, Karnataka for a long time. He was facing over 23 serious criminal cases registered across Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka.
Samyadeen was an associate of Nafees, a dacoit with a ₹1 lakh reward who was killed in Kandhla in October. After Nafees’s encounter, Samyadeen fled to Punjab and continuously evaded police capture.
The police received information that Samyadeen was planning a robbery with his accomplices at a kiln located in the forests of Bhesani in the Thanabhavan police station area. When the team surrounded the site, the criminals opened fire. In the police’s retaliatory action, Samyadeen was critically injured and rushed to the hospital, where he died during treatment.
During the encounter, a police officer was seriously injured and referred to the district hospital. Babri police station in-charge Rahul Sisodia was also hit by a bullet on his jacket but remained safe. Two pistols, one handgun, and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered from the spot. Police said about six criminals were present at the scene. After the firing, five of Samyadeen’s associates managed to escape. A search operation is ongoing in the forests to apprehend them.
SP NP Singh stated, “We received information that a gang was gathered inside the kiln. When police surrounded the area, the criminals started firing. In our counteraction, one criminal was seriously injured and taken to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. One police officer is also seriously wounded and receiving treatment at the district hospital. Today marks the end of a major criminal.”
Samyadeen was linked to multiple gangs operating in several states and was involved in robberies and dacoities across Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka, according to police.
