Lucknow – The monsoon has picked up pace across several states in India, including Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Bihar. After a spell of heavy showers in Delhi today, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast intense rainfall across multiple regions of the country, including northwest, central, eastern, and northeastern India over the next seven days.

Heavy Rainfall Expected in Key UP Districts

The IMD has issued a warning for heavy rainfall on Sunday and Monday (June 30) across 13 districts in Uttar Pradesh, citing increasing monsoon activity in the region. The districts likely to witness intense downpours include:

  • Balrampur

  • Shrawasti

  • Bahraich

  • Lakhimpur Kheri

  • Saharanpur

  • Muzaffarnagar

  • Bijnor

  • Amroha

  • Moradabad

  • Rampur

  • Bareilly

  • Pilibhit

  • Shahjahanpur

According to the weather office, most parts of the state are expected to receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to dip by 3-5°C and 2-4°C respectively over the next three days, after which no significant temperature change is anticipated.

Severe Weather Outlook from June 30 to July 5

The IMD has further warned of very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in both eastern and western Uttar Pradesh during the following days:

  • June 30 (Monday): Intense thunderstorms and torrential rain likely across eastern and western UP.

  • July 1 & 2 (Tuesday & Wednesday): Risk of extreme weather persists with widespread rain and thunder.

  • July 3 & 4 (Thursday & Friday): Continued alert for severe rainfall and thunderstorms.

  • July 5 (Saturday): Heavy rains and possible lightning storms expected to continue.

Public Safety Measures Urged

The IMD has urged residents to stay cautious and prepare for weather-related disruptions such as flooding, power outages, and potential lightning strikes. Local authorities may initiate precautionary measures in high-risk areas.

As the monsoon intensifies, residents across Uttar Pradesh are advised to remain alert and avoid venturing out during peak rainfall hours unless necessary.
