Mumbai, March 17: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh declared Ujjain as a global hub for knowledge, science, and meditation, a place chosen by Lord Krishna as a site for education.
At the 30th convocation ceremony of Vikram University in Ujjain, 181 students received degrees, 198 were awarded gold medals, one researcher was honored with a D.Litt, and 88 scholars were conferred PhDs.
Chancellor and Governor Mangubhai Patel remarked that entering Ujjain evokes a unique experience. He noted that one of the university’s students has become the Chief Minister of the state. Patel urged the graduates to pledge their commitment to societal upliftment and national unity after the ceremony.
He emphasized the importance of the values instilled in them during their education. Graduates should remember the sacrifices made by their parents for their education and serve them. Regardless of their future achievements, they must remain grateful to their parents and teachers. The goal of education is not merely to obtain degrees but to contribute to society and become responsible citizens.
CM Yadav reiterated that Ujjain, a center for knowledge, science, and meditation, was chosen by Lord Krishna for his teachings. This land, known for its 64 arts and 14 sciences, has been the workplace of Emperor Vikramaditya, a symbol of valor and just governance.
The 30th convocation of Vikram University is not just a degree distribution but a culmination of seven decades of dedication that has produced skilled human resources and outstanding scholars. The association of Emperor Vikramaditya with the university has enhanced its prestige and pride among students. Being awarded degrees from such a university is a matter of great fortune for the graduates.
Yadav stated that the convocation marks not the end of education but the beginning of a new learning journey, serving as a significant turning point in life. Students must maintain a thirst for knowledge for a better life. He expressed confidence that the university’s graduates will actively participate in the overall development of the state and country, fulfilling their duties with dedication and bringing pride to their families, society, and nation.
The CM announced the initiation of the convocation tradition to honor students completing their education. Vikram University has been the workplace of renowned figures like poet Shivmangal Singh Suman and Padma Shri Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar. The university has also been a pioneer in introducing modern subjects like agricultural studies and dairy technology.
Yadav announced a grant of 5.1 million rupees for various instruments, five drones for the agricultural study school, and a bus for the educational tours of university students. He mentioned that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Madhya Pradesh is continuously progressing. The previous year was celebrated for investment and employment, while 2026 is being observed as the year of farmer welfare.
Ujjain is set to witness a grand and divine Kumbh Mela in 2028. The state government is already making extensive preparations for the smooth transit of pilgrims and their bathing in the waters of the Kshipra River. Special attention is being given to cleanliness, traveler guidance, and digital assistance for the event.
