Udayanidhi Stalin Criticizes Tamil Nadu Government Over Deteriorating Law and Order

Chennai, May 29: The brutal murder of a 25-year-old woman in Kuddlore has sparked political backlash in Tamil Nadu. Opposition leader Udayanidhi Stalin launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s government on Friday, criticizing the state’s law and order situation.

In a statement released on Friday, Udayanidhi described the incident as shocking. He noted that the rising incidents of murder, robbery, and sexual violence across Tamil Nadu have led the public to question whether law and order still exists in the state.

Targeting the ruling party, he alleged that since the Sofa Model government took power, there has hardly been a day without reports of murder, robbery, or sexual violence.

Udayanidhi also criticized Chief Minister Vijay for failing to fulfill promises made during the election campaign. He remarked that the individual who spoke extensively about law and order during the campaign seems to have fallen into a ‘deep sleep’ since taking office.

Expressing concern over women’s safety initiatives, he referenced reports that the launch of the proposed ‘Singappan Force’—a special initiative for women’s safety—was abruptly canceled at the last moment.

He questioned whether the program was merely postponed or entirely scrapped. He asked if changing the name and uniform of the Singapore police force was the only change made, or if the government needed more time to establish and maintain law and order.

Udayanidhi concluded by stating that the people of Tamil Nadu cannot wait for the government to gradually learn how to ensure public safety and uphold law and order.
