Udaipur Hosts Run for Zero Hunger Marathon with Over 7,000 Participants

Udaipur, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : The Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon 2026 took place in Udaipur on September 6, drawing more than 7,000 participants from across the globe. This event has gained international recognition, showcasing the city’s appeal as a tourist destination.

The marathon featured three categories: 21 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and 5 kilometers. It aimed to promote the vital message of ‘Run for Zero Hunger,’ highlighting the ongoing issue of food scarcity faced by many.

Gaurav Srivastava, Inspector General of Udaipur, expressed his enthusiasm about the event, stating, “This is one of the most beautiful marathons in the world. It’s my first marathon, and I believe everyone can participate. This run is for children, youth, and everyone.”

He emphasized the importance of the marathon in promoting fitness and raising awareness about hunger. “Even today, some people struggle to get two meals a day. Our goal is to ensure no one goes hungry and that everyone has access to food. This marathon was organized to spread that message, and it inspired me to participate,” he explained.

Srivastava also urged everyone to maintain fitness, avoid drugs, and prioritize road, women’s, and cyber safety.

The event saw a diverse group of Indian participants, notably a significant number of young women from colleges. Comprehensive security measures were in place to ensure the safety of all participants throughout the marathon. International runners were among the main highlights of the event, contributing to its vibrant atmosphere.
