UAE Schools to Resume Offline Classes Starting Monday

Abu Dhabi, May 10: The Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced that all public and private schools will resume offline classes starting Monday. This decision was shared on social media platforms as well. According to the ministry, students, teachers, and school staff across the nation will return to their schools as usual. Online classes had been conducted for the past week due to safety concerns.

The ministry has instructed all schools to ensure necessary safety protocols are in place to prevent any inconvenience for students and parents. Starting May 11, schools from nursery level to government and private institutions will operate in offline mode. It was clarified that this arrangement aims to ensure the smooth continuation of educational programs.

Last week, following increased regional tensions, the UAE administration opted for online classes as a precautionary measure. This decision came after a missile attack on May 4, during which reportedly 15 missiles were launched towards the UAE from Tehran. This was considered the first major attack since a ceasefire was established between the United States and Iran in April.

However, UAE security agencies reported that most missiles were intercepted in mid-air, and no significant damage occurred. Despite this, the government implemented temporary safety protocols for schools, some offices, and public institutions.

The Ministry of Education asserted that the situation is currently under control and that everything is organized with the cooperation of security agencies. There is no threat to the normal operation of schools.

On Sunday, two UAVs (drones) were spotted in the UAE, which were reportedly shot down by the air defense system. The Ministry of Defense announced that on May 10, 2026, the UAE’s air defense successfully intercepted two UAVs launched from Iran. No casualties have been reported in the recent hours. However, since the onset of these attacks, two soldiers have lost their lives, along with a Moroccan national working under contract with the armed forces.
