
New Delhi, May 22: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to visit India, as announced by the U.S. Embassy in India. This visit underscores a shared commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
The trip emphasizes the strategic importance of the Quad partnership, particularly in strengthening regional security and diversifying supply chains for critical minerals.
In an official post on social media platform X, the U.S. Embassy stated, “From supporting regional security to diversifying supply chains for critical minerals, Secretary Rubio’s upcoming visit to India highlights the significance of the Quad partnership.”
Rubio will arrive in India on Saturday and will tour various states from May 23 to May 26.
In addition to bilateral meetings with Indian leaders in New Delhi, Rubio will participate in the Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting, which includes foreign ministers from India, the U.S., Japan, and Australia. The discussions will primarily focus on the Quad partnership, energy security, trade, and defense cooperation.
During his visit, Secretary Rubio will travel to Kolkata, Agra, Jaipur, and Delhi. According to the U.S. State Department, before arriving in India, Rubio will attend a NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Helsingborg, Sweden, on Friday.
During this trip, Secretary Rubio will also celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States in India. In a video message, he expressed his excitement about celebrating this milestone with Indian partners, stating, “India is the world’s largest democracy, and we are one of the oldest democracies. Therefore, we look forward to celebrating together.”
Sharing Rubio’s video message on social media platform X, the U.S. Embassy in India remarked, “We are excited to celebrate this occasion with you!”
