Washington, May 12: Migration remains a significant issue in the United States. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that allowing mass immigration into the U.S. was a grave error. He emphasized that it poses a threat to societal unity and the future of American citizens. The Trump administration has officially rejected the UN Migration Declaration (GCM).
On Monday, the U.S. State Department issued a strong statement regarding this matter. It announced that the U.S. would not participate in the International Migration Review Forum and would not support the progress declaration made on May 8.
The U.S. government has consistently opposed the United Nations’ efforts related to the Global Migration Framework. The statement highlighted, “The U.S. has continuously objected to UN initiatives that aim to support and facilitate replacement immigration in the U.S. and across the West.”
The statement also referenced President Donald Trump’s 2017 decision to reject the Global Compact on Migration. It further asserted, “Recent years have validated the rationale behind opposing the Global Migration Framework.”
The government accused UN agencies and their partners of facilitating mass migration into the U.S. According to the statement, Americans have witnessed crime and chaos at the borders, emergencies in major cities, and billions of taxpayer dollars spent on migrants for hotels, plane tickets, cell phones, and cash cards.
The U.S. State Department alleged that UN-related efforts have not only made the country vulnerable but have also redistributed the wealth and resources of American citizens to millions of foreigners arriving from the world’s worst corners.
Rejecting the UN’s perspective on migration management, the U.S. stated, “There was nothing safe, orderly, or regular about it.”
It added, “The financial burden primarily fell on working Americans, who were forced to compete for fewer jobs, homes, and social services. The UN has little to say about their plight.”
The U.S. government declared that it would not support any international process that could limit American sovereignty over immigration policy.
The statement concluded, “President Trump is focused on the interests of Americans, not foreigners or globalist bureaucrats. The U.S. will not endorse any process that overtly or covertly imposes guidelines, standards, or commitments that impede the sovereignty and democratic rights of the American people to make decisions in their best interests.”
The government also hinted at a stricter approach to immigration policy, stating, “Our goal is not to manage migration but to promote re-migration.”
The International Migration Review Forum is linked to the UN Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration, adopted in 2018 to strengthen international cooperation on migration issues. Although the compact is non-binding, it has faced criticism from several conservative governments concerned about national sovereignty and border control.
