Shravasti, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant operation on September 7, 2026, the Bhhinga police and Special Operations Group (SOG) in Shravasti district successfully apprehended two notorious criminals, each with a reward of ₹50,000 on their heads. The encounter resulted in injuries to a sub-inspector.
The clash occurred near the Anta intersection, where the suspects opened fire, discharging approximately six rounds. In response, the police returned fire, injuring one of the criminals, Girish Baheliya, in the leg.
According to police reports, the Bhhinga police and SOG team were conducting checks when they received information about the presence of suspicious individuals. Upon attempting to encircle the suspects, the criminals began shooting at the police. Following the exchange, police managed to arrest Girish Baheliya’s accomplice, Shiv Kumar Jaiswal, at the scene.
During the encounter, a sub-inspector sustained injuries while taking cover from the gunfire. Girish Baheliya was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities recovered two illegal firearms, ammunition, cash, and a motorcycle from the suspects. Girish Baheliya has over 30 criminal cases registered against him, while Shiv Kumar Jaiswal is reportedly linked to more than 23 cases.
Both men are wanted for serious offenses, including burglary, robbery, theft, and violations of the Arms Act and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The police are currently interrogating the suspects to gather information about their criminal network and any potential associates.
Shravasti Superintendent of Police Rahul Bhati confirmed that the police team had successfully surrounded the wanted criminals during the checks. He noted that the investigation into their criminal history and the broader network is ongoing.
