Saharanpur, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : The political climate in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has intensified following the demolition of an alleged illegal mosque. Congress MP Imran Masood, alongside party leader Aseem Waqaar, has voiced their concerns regarding the incident.
Masood emphasized that the matter is now a legal battle, expressing confidence that the court will deliver justice. “With the mosque demolished, we must fight this battle in court. All disputes are tied to documents, and we possess the necessary paperwork to support our case,” he stated. He assured that justice would prevail and that any reconstruction of the mosque would occur only under court orders. “We will approach the court and present our arguments. The only path forward is through the judiciary,” he added.
In a separate statement, Aseem Waqaar criticized the Yogi government for its actions, alleging that around 270 to 280 Muslim establishments have been demolished, including 225 madrasas, 30 mosques, 25 shrines, and six Eidgahs. He questioned, “Do you think the Hindus of the state and the country are pleased with this?”
Waqaar further claimed that once the BJP government ends and the India alliance comes to power, he would advocate for the reconstruction of temples destroyed under the current administration. “I will ensure that those responsible for the demolition of 688 temples are held accountable. They will have to use their personal assets and salaries to rebuild these temples,” he asserted.
He insisted that the same legal standards applied to the destroyed temples should also be enforced for the mosques. “Not only in Saharanpur but for all mosques that have been demolished, the law will apply consistently. Questions will be raised about all temples that this government has destroyed, and the priests will be restored to their temples, just as the Muslims will reclaim their mosques,” he concluded, labeling the demolition of the Saharanpur mosque as an unconstitutional act.
