Jodhpur, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : The Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has successfully apprehended two alleged sharp-shooters associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang during an operation in Jodhpur. Police reports indicate that the suspects were summoned from Punjab to carry out an attack on a prominent businessman in the Marwar region.
According to AGTF Additional Director General Dinesh M.N., the operation was initiated after intelligence revealed that the two individuals were in Jodhpur preparing to target the businessman.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Jaskaran Singh, also known as Karan, and Rajinder, referred to as Billa. Karan hails from Harsingh Rai Nagar in Fazilka, while Billa is from Baluwana in Abohar. The Punjab Police had previously announced a reward of ₹5 lakh for information leading to their arrest.
The operation was carried out by teams led by ASP Siddhant Sharma, Deputy SP Ravindra Pratap Singh, and Inspectors Sunil Jangid and Ramsingh Nathawat, with support from local police.
Both suspects were wanted in connection with the murders of two businessmen in Punjab. Investigators believe that these killings were orchestrated as part of extortion activities directed by members of the Lawrence gang. During preliminary questioning, the suspects allegedly admitted that they had come to Jodhpur to target a significant businessman.
The AGTF is currently investigating the potential target and the broader circumstances surrounding this alleged conspiracy. Investigators also suspect that the shooters planned to flee to Nepal after committing the crime and would return upon receiving instructions for another target.
AGTF officials consider both individuals crucial members of the gang, especially as many of their associates remain incarcerated. There are suspicions that, after completing their assignments, the suspects were sent abroad and called back once new targets were identified.
Reports suggest that AGTF member Rakesh received intelligence indicating that the suspects had entered Jodhpur via Sirohi from Madhya Pradesh. Following this lead, police monitored their activities and launched the operation upon confirming their plan to attack a businessman near Jodhpur.
Further investigations are underway to uncover the alleged target, the motives behind the attack, and the extensive network connected to the arrested suspects.
