New Delhi, October 12 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes for the second day of Navratri on October 12, 2026, by honoring Goddess Ambika and seeking blessings from Goddess Brahmacharini for courage, determination, and self-control.
On social media platform X, Modi shared a YouTube link featuring a devotional video titled “Chamundi Songs.” In his post, he emphasized that the second day of Navratri is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Brahmacharini, a symbol of penance, sacrifice, and resolve. He expressed hopes that she bestows everyone with strength and self-discipline.
Goddess Brahmacharini is revered as a representation of devotion, patience, and self-discipline. According to Hindu tradition, she embodies the intense penance of Goddess Parvati, who undertook rigorous austerities to win Lord Shiva as her husband.
After worshiping Goddess Shailputri on the first day of Navratri, devotees seek the blessings of Goddess Brahmacharini on the second day for wisdom, perseverance, spiritual growth, and the power to overcome challenges.
On this occasion, worshipers offer prayers, flowers, and traditional offerings while chanting sacred mantras. The second day of the festival is traditionally associated with the color white, symbolizing peace and purity, while sugar or jaggery is offered as prasad.
Goddess Brahmacharini represents the ascetic form of Goddess Parvati, symbolizing the power of penance. Hindu beliefs hold that Goddess Parvati performed severe austerities to express her devotion to Lord Shiva. The worship of Goddess Brahmacharini during Navratri serves as a reminder of her unwavering determination.
The devotional song presented in Kannada, “Chamundi Varadayini,” is performed by B.K. Sumitra, with music direction by L. Krishnan and lyrics by R.N. Jayagopal.
In a separate post, PM Modi highlighted the religious significance of the second day of Navratri, dedicated to Goddess Brahmacharini. He stated, “The second day of Navratri is devoted to the worship of Brahmacharini, a symbol of penance, sacrifice, and resolve. May she bless everyone with courage and self-discipline.”
