Tulsi Gabbard Defends Trump After Resignation of Anti-Terror Chief Over Iran Conflict

Washington, March 18: Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, has come to President Donald Trump’s defense regarding his decision to strike Iran. This support follows the resignation of Joe Kent, the head of the anti-terrorism agency, who stepped down in protest. Kent’s resignation marks the first high-profile exit from the administration over this conflict.

In her statement, Gabbard emphasized that Donald Trump was elected by a significant majority as President and Commander-in-Chief. She stated, “As Commander-in-Chief, it is his responsibility to determine whether there is an immediate threat and to take necessary actions to ensure the safety of our soldiers, the American people, and our nation.”

Gabbard, the highest-ranking Hindu American in the presidential administration, noted that the decision was based on an assessment of intelligence information. She explained, “The Office of the Director of National Intelligence is responsible for coordinating and integrating all intelligence data to provide the best available information for the President and Commander-in-Chief in their decision-making.”

After a careful review of all available information, Gabbard stated that President Trump concluded that the Islamic regime in Iran posed a threat to the U.S. and acted accordingly.

Earlier, Joe Kent announced his resignation, stating, “After much consideration, I have decided to resign from my position as director of the anti-terrorism agency.” He directly challenged the basis for the conflict, asserting, “I cannot support this war in Iran based on my conscience. There was no threat to our country from Iran, and it is clear that we initiated this war under pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”

However, the White House dismissed Kent’s claims. Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated, “This letter contains many false claims, but I want to specifically address one assertion: that ‘there was no immediate threat from Iran.’ This is the same false claim that some Democrats and liberal media have been repeating.”

Levitt asserted that President Trump had strong and solid evidence indicating that Iran was poised to attack the U.S. She clarified that the decision was based on intelligence gathered from multiple sources and factors.

Following Kent’s resignation, President Trump criticized him directly. He told reporters, “It’s a good thing he is no longer in the administration, as he claimed Iran was not a threat, while every country believed Iran was a threat.”

Trump further remarked, “I always thought he was a good person. But I also believed he was weak on security. When I read his statement, I realized it was fortunate he is no longer in that position, as he claimed Iran was not a threat, while Iran was indeed a threat.”
