New Delhi, August 23: Tuhin A. Sinha, the national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has criticized Rahul Gandhi, labeling him a professional protester who displays fake anger. Sinha emphasized that Gandhi should recognize that the country operates under the Constitution, not by misrepresenting Manusmriti to attack Hindu beliefs. He noted that Mahatma Gandhi himself acknowledged several aspects of Manusmriti as relevant in 1928.
Sinha further stated, “Just a week ago, Chief Minister Hemant Soren deceived poor students in Jharkhand. He announced the cancellation of all exams from the past 10-12 years, only to realize immediately that this was not feasible. Shortly after, the Jharkhand High Court dismissed this order.”
He added that students are now extremely angry, feeling betrayed by both Soren and Gandhi. Reports indicate that JMM workers are allegedly assaulting poor students daily in Ranchi, Koderma, and Hazaribagh out of frustration.
Addressing Gandhi’s comments regarding Manusmriti, Sinha remarked, “Rahul Gandhi needs to understand that this country is governed by the Constitution, not Manusmriti. Quoting Manusmriti out of context to attack Hindu beliefs has become a routine for him.”
Sinha pointed out that during discussions in Parliament about student issues, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra referred to the director of IIT Madras as a ‘cow urine expert,’ while Kharge attacked Manusmriti again that day.
He reminded Gandhi that in a letter written in 1928, Mahatma Gandhi stated that certain aspects of Manusmriti are so valuable that they should be embraced in modern life.
Regarding the ‘Students’ Voice’ event held in Pune, Sinha stated, “Rahul Gandhi has turned into a professional protester. One day he speaks about women’s rights, the next about youth, then about farmers, and on another day about OBCs. Displaying fake anger has become his daily routine. This seems to be the sole purpose of his life.”
He questioned Gandhi’s commitment to women’s rights, asking why he did not support the ban on triple talaq. “Can you name a single Congress-ruled state government that supports UCC? The Congress party has consistently opposed UCC at the national level,” he concluded.
