Pune, February 17: Former Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu has criticized Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, stating he lacks the time to listen to anyone. In response, BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala remarked that faith in Rahul Gandhi has eroded.

During a conversation in Pune, Poonawala highlighted that Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar recently moved a no-confidence motion against Rahul Gandhi. Many prominent Congress leaders in Assam are also preparing to leave the party. The push to hand over the leadership of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDI Alliance) to Mamata Banerjee has intensified. Other opposition parties, alongside the Trinamool Congress (TMC), are echoing the sentiment that Rahul Gandhi lacks the necessary qualities.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu, whose husband remains in Congress, stated that Rahul Gandhi does not listen to anyone, does not meet people, and fails to provide time. She noted that Congress is deteriorating in Punjab, as he does not take feedback. Poonawala emphasized that trust in Rahul Gandhi has vanished. He lacks public support and organizational strength, and even senior Congress leaders are disillusioned with him.

Referring to Tamil Nadu, Poonawala contrasted the NDA alliance as a “strong coalition” with a clear mission and vision, while the DMK-Congress alliance is merely a “forced coalition” lacking direction, driven by confusion and internal strife.

Congress leaders like Manickam Tagore are demanding power-sharing and more seats, all in pursuit of power. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Stalin has stated that there will be no power-sharing arrangements in Tamil Nadu this time.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi embodies spirituality, which reflects in his personality. Regarding Rahul Gandhi, she expressed difficulty in understanding him, as he has not reached a level where he engages equally with everyone and remains open to dialogue. She suggested he still seems bound by the Gandhi family’s mindset, lacking time for those who genuinely wish to guide him. If it takes eight months to meet someone, she believes that is unacceptable. A leader should meet everyone, especially those offering honest and constructive advice. If one is not willing to listen, that is their choice.
