Trump Sends Strong Message to Iran: No Rush for Agreement Amid Midterm Pressure

Washington, May 28: President Donald Trump has stated that he will not rush into an agreement with Iran due to political pressures from the upcoming midterm elections. He warned that if the ongoing negotiations do not yield a deal favorable to the United States, Washington is prepared to take military action again.

During a Cabinet meeting at the White House on Wednesday, Trump noted that Iran expected the pressure from the upcoming midterm elections to weaken the U.S. negotiating position.

Trump remarked, “They thought they could make me wait longer, but I don’t care about the midterm elections.”

He emphasized that the U.S. is not satisfied with the current terms of discussion and indicated that military action could be back on the table if their demands are not met.

“Hopefully, we will be satisfied with this. If not, we will have to get the job done,” Trump added.

Additionally, during the Cabinet meeting, Trump stated that Iran would not receive any relief from sanctions in exchange for relinquishing its stockpile of highly enriched uranium.

In a phone interview with PBA News, when asked if Iran would receive sanctions relief under the current framework for giving up its enriched uranium, Trump replied, “No, absolutely not. No sanctions relief.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the White House dismissed a report from Iranian media that mentioned a draft agreement suggesting the U.S. would withdraw its troops from areas near Iran and lift the naval blockade at Iranian ports. The White House labeled this report as “completely fabricated.”

According to Iran’s state channel IRIB TV, the draft included provisions for the withdrawal of U.S. forces from areas surrounding Iran and the cessation of the U.S. naval blockade at Iranian ports.
