Washington, August 27: U.S. President Donald Trump has made a significant claim regarding Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei. Trump stated that Khamenei is severely injured but still alive. He also mentioned that the ongoing conflict with Iran is expected to end “very soon.”
In an interview with conservative broadcaster Glenn Beck, Trump remarked, “I don’t think he’s dead. He is very seriously injured.” He elaborated that Khamenei’s left side, including his arm and leg, has been severely affected.
However, Trump did not provide any evidence to support his claims about Khamenei’s condition. He noted that Iranian officials still refer to the Supreme Leader for advice.
“If he’s not alive, then they are putting on a very good show, as they continually say they are going to consult him and seek his final approval on various matters,” Trump asserted. He also claimed that U.S. forces destroyed 22 boats in a single night during blockade-related operations.
“We destroyed 22 boats last night. People were trying to come in during the blockade. Our Navy did a fantastic job. Our entire military has performed excellently. I believe this military operation will soon lead to a significant victory,” Trump stated.
He expressed confidence that, following their success in Venezuela, a major victory in this situation is imminent.
When asked why there are not large-scale protests against the government in Iran, Trump explained that demonstrators face security forces and snipers. “When there are people who can shoot you and take your life, it becomes very difficult to protest. That’s why people are not taking to the streets,” he said.
Trump claimed that Iran’s military capabilities have suffered substantial damage. He suggested that conditions may change as Iran has become significantly weakened. Their navy is nearly depleted, and their air force is almost entirely diminished. Some soldiers are reportedly not receiving their salaries, and inflation in the country has surged.
He added that the Strait of Hormuz is still functioning normally, with significant oil movement continuing despite intermittent attacks. “We have removed all mines. The strait is operational and fully active,” Trump confirmed.
He noted that a substantial amount of oil is still being extracted, with around 10 million barrels moving through yesterday. Trump emphasized that the primary goal of the entire conflict is to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. “We cannot allow Iran to have nuclear weapons. That is the main issue. It’s 99.9 percent about this,” he stated.
Trump acknowledged that the conflict has forced his administration to take a different approach to energy and economic issues temporarily, but he believes conditions are improving. “We took necessary steps, and prices are coming down very quickly now.”
