He played a vital role in establishing the ‘Abhinav Bharat’ organization and ignited the spirit of freedom and revolution among the people of that era. While enduring unbearable torture in the Cellular Jail of Andaman, he never wavered from his commitment to serve the nation. His extensive writings enriched Marathi literature. His sacrifice, struggle, thoughts, and personality will always inspire our countrymen.”
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary remarked on X, “On the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter, patriot, and revolutionary thinker Ganesh Damodar Savarkar, I bow in reverence. His sacrifice, struggle, and dedication for the nation’s freedom will always be a source of inspiration.”
Bihar Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha also paid tribute on X, stating, “On the birth anniversary of the prominent freedom fighter, staunch nationalist, and co-founder of the Hindu Mahasabha, Shri Ganesh Damodar Savarkar, I offer my heartfelt respects.”
Notably, Ganesh Damodar Savarkar was born on June 13, 1879, in a place called Bhagpur near Nashik in Maharashtra. He received his education in Nashik. Initially, he was interested in religion, yoga, and meditation. In 1897, the Chafekar brothers, angered by the atrocities of plague officer Rand, assassinated him, causing a stir throughout Maharashtra. However, Ganesh remained unaffected. At one point, he contemplated renouncing worldly life, but after the death of his father during the plague, he took on the responsibility of educating his younger brothers, which prevented him from fulfilling that desire.
