Washington, November 4 (Daily Kiran) : Byron Donalds, the Republican leader who won the Florida governor’s race in the recent midterm elections, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to voters. He pledged to work tirelessly to improve the state of Florida.
In a message shared on the social media platform X, Donalds stated, “Thank you, Florida! I am overwhelmed by your trust and support. As your governor, I will dedicate everything to our state.”
He emphasized that his primary goals include making life more affordable in Florida, ensuring safe roads, and investing in the youth. He aims to help them achieve the “Florida Dream” that residents cherish.
“Florida is the envy of the nation. I will fight day and night to maintain this status and elevate our state to new heights,” Donalds added.
Donalds secured his victory against Democratic candidate David Jolly, making history as Florida’s first Black governor. He will succeed the current Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, who could not seek re-election due to term limits.
During the campaign, key issues included rising inflation, housing costs, insurance, and the overall cost of living. Donalds promised to make Florida more affordable and to expand economic opportunities.
Voting for the U.S. midterm elections concluded on Tuesday, with 36 states selecting new governors. The governor’s position is the most powerful elected office in state government. Meanwhile, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives were up for election, with early results indicating that Democrats were leading over the ruling Republicans.
